National Federation of Community Broadcasters
"Nearly 20 years ago on a hot, muggy day in Madison, Wisconsin, in the basement meeting room of the YMCA, a small group of 25 visionaries and counter culture types gathered to ponder the future of community radio.... The group produced a resolution to develop a national organization representing community broadcasters. Several months later the National Federation of Community Broadcasters was founded. The early participants were a combination of the pioneering community radio stations along with community groups seeking to get on the air."
